Dear Reader...
Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has dismissed claims that he will not return to the national team to represent the country again.
In a 1-1 home draw against rivals Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs in March, Uzoho was highly criticized for allowing Thomas Partey's long range shot to slip past his hands early in the first half.
Despite an equalizer from William Troost-Ekong from the penalty spot, the Super Eagles were eliminated due to the away goal rule.
On Monday, May 23, media reports claimed that the Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus goalkeeper has ended his career with the Super Eagles after being left out of the squad for upcoming friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador.
He has since opposed the allegations.
“ I’m committed to playing for my dear country anytime I’m called up,”Uzoho told the Super Eagles media team on Tuesday, May 24.
Uzoho, 23, has 18 Super Eagles caps to his name.
