Russian President Putin 'survived assassination attempt two months ago, Ukraine's intelligence chief claims'

Dear Reader...

According to the country's intelligence chief, Russian President Vladimir Putin survived an attempted assassination shortly after the start of the war in Ukraine.

According to Maj. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, chief of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, an "unsuccessful attempt" on the Russian strongman's life occurred in the Caucasus shortly after Russia invaded the country on Feb. 24, according to Ukrainska Pravda.

Kyrylo Budanov said there was an attempt to kill the Russian President after he ordered the invasion of Ukraine

"There was an attempt on Putin's life," Budanov told the outlet. "He was even allegedly attacked not long ago by Caucasus representatives."

The Caucasus, also known as Caucasia, is a region that includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and parts of southern Russia between the Black and Caspian seas.

Budanov stated that the "absolutely unsuccessful" assassination attempt occurred about two months ago in an unspecified region of Russia.

In 2017, Putin told filmmaker Oliver Stone that he had been the target of five assassination attempts, and that the only reason he is still alive is because he handles his own security personally.

'I do my job, and the security officers do theirs, and they continue to perform admirably,' Putin said in the documentary 'The Putin Interviews.'

Putin is said to travel with his own sniper squad, whose job it is to find and kill any shooters before they can kill Putin.

In 2012, a former British public schoolboy was arrested in the Ukrainian port city of Odessa in connection with a foiled assassination plot against Putin.

Adam Osmayev, a member of a prominent Chechen family that opposes Putin, was apprehended by special forces in Odessa and allegedly confessed to wanting to travel to Moscow and kill Putin, then a presidential candidate, by bombing his motorcade.
