Chelsea has been purchased for £4.25 billion by a Todd Boehly-led consortium, ending Roman Abramovich's 19-year ownership.
This comes just two days after it was announced that the sale of Chelsea to the Boehly-led group had reached a "final and definitive agreement."
"We are committed to investing in key areas that will extend and enhance Chelsea's competitiveness, including the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge, further investment in the academy, the women's team, and Kingsmeadow stadium," the new owners said, adding that they will "continue the important work of the Chelsea Foundation."
In a statement on Chelsea's website, Boehly outlined his consortium's aim, saying, "We are thrilled to become the next caretakers of Chelsea Football Club." Every minute of every match, we're all in - 100 percent.
"As owners, we have a clear goal: to make the fans proud. Our plan of action is to invest in the club for the long-term and build on Chelsea's extraordinary history of success, in addition to our commitment to strengthening the youth group and obtaining the top talent."
"I personally want to thank ministers and officials in the British government, as well as the Premier League, for all their efforts in making this happen," Boehly continued.
On March 2, a week after Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Russian-Israeli billionaire Roman Abramovich put Chelsea, which he bought in 2003, up for sale.
Despite the primary shareholder being a California investment firm, Boehly, a co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, is now Chelsea's controlling owner. Boehly and Clearlake will "share joint control and equal governance of the club," according to the new owners' announcement, while "Boehly will serve as chairman of the holding company."
