Bandits Attack A Catholic Church In Ondo, Killing 50 Worshippers

Dear Reader...

Gunmen suspected of being bandits attacked St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, the headquarters of Ondo State's Owo Local Government Area, killing more than 50 members of the congregation.

According to reports, the gunmen stormed the church during Sunday morning service on June 5 and opened fire on the congregation.

According to the Nigerian Tribune, no fewer than 50 corpses have been removed from the church, with many casualties being treated at the Federal Medical Center in Owo.

According to a source, the congregation was caught off guard, and the death toll may rise as some worshippers who were taken to the hospital died.

He also stated that the gunmen used explosives within the church compound, but that the majority of the people were hit with gunshots.

The perpetrators were said to have fled the scene immediately after carrying out the killing, killing a large number of people.

Graphic photos and videos posted online show some dead bodies in the church covered in blood.

According to an Owo nurse who spoke to the publication on the condition of anonymity, there were not enough medical personnel on the ground to attend to the casualties at the hospital's emergency unit, and some of the casualties were taken to a private hospital.
